As an author, I think you can easily relate to this feeling.  Have you ever read anything that instantly resonated with you down to your core?  That happened to me today. I read an article by Jonathan Fields and it just made sense.  Here is a small piece from that article.  Pay close attention to the last line . . . it is meant for you.

Author and marketing maven Jonathan Fields writes, “ . . . if just a few of the uber-nodes in the social media neural networks like what you’re selling…and they like you, they’ll pass it on. Not just to one person, but to tens or hundreds of thousands. Then a portion of that next level will do the same. And, truth is, in the world of social media, increasingly, everyone’s got a chance to be heard, everyone’s the right person…a potential source of ground-zero evangelical luminance.”

So true!

Here are the 5 tools to explore when cultivating your tribe.

  1. Blog:  Make sure to create a blog for your tribe and not try creating a tribe for your blog.
  2. Twitter:  This is a perfect place for real time, quick engagement.
  3. Facebook Fan Page:  Create a compelling reason for your tribe to show up and stay while.
  4. Email:  One-on-one, personal interactions are powerful to say the least.
  5. Forums:  Use forums to listen more than you talk and to research.  After you take it all in, dive in and start engaging!

Very important: Save your time and energy and only go where your tribe is hanging out.  This will make your efforts less overwhelming.

And just as important: Be one of the few that will do the hard work.  Most likely, your “competitors” don’t want to hustle.  This is your IN.  Your time to get the traction you have been looking for.
