Did you know that over half of Facebook’s 400 million active users log in daily and spend an average of 55 minutes per day on the site?  Compared to other social sites, these stats are extremely impressive!

Here’s a quick video to show you some of the features you can add to optimize your fan page and start generating more leads, engaging with more potential clients and building more trust.

And I love comments, so please share your questions, insights and Fan page success stories here.  I want to hear from you!

Loved this. have been building a community for women endurance athletes for about 18 months and learning the FB/Social media revolution since then. STEEP learning curve and your strategies and advice here have been remarkable.
GOTRIbal (my company) is trying to serve teh 60+million women who do endurance sports, and engaging them around our brand and service has been an entirely new exercise for me as founder.
    Thank you for your help!

    Hello Amy
Can you recommend any downloads for me to read to start understanding how to use Facebook properly please? I use it, but not yet as a business app.
    Thanks
    Jane
  • Hi, Jane! Thanks for stopping by. I have two places I would suggest. Check out www.socialmediaexaminer.com and search for Facebook or Fan Pages. This site has TONS of great articles on the latest and greatest on Facebook. Also, do you know of Mari Smith? She is a Facebook expert and writes content on ways to use Facebook, how to manage a Fan Page, etc. You can find her at http://www.marismith.com. Enjoy!
  • Hi Amy,

I'm glad I followed the link in Mike Stelzner's post on my twitter page...good presentation on YouTube re: fb customization. I'm just getting up-n-running with a new/1st video blog... it's been a techno-migraine but ultimately worthwhile.

I look forward to working with you in the future.
  • Thanks for the cool video Amy! Let's get this out to my audience!

Hi Amy - great tips for making fan pages. I have a tangent question related to how you made the video... What software did you use that enables you to record yourself from the webcam and show what videos are playing? What's the minimum system specs to do something like that?
  • Hi, there! I use a Mac and to make the videos like the one above I use ScreenFlow. It costs $89. I love it! However, if you are on a PC, I heard that Camtasia and Sony Vegas are both good, but I have not used them. So look into those if your a PC use. Good luck!
  • Hi Amy, great video, thanks! On the adding new Tabs idea, I have done this but it seems like as soon as you add one, one disappears because you can only show a set amount. The only way to see the other tabs is to click on the little arrows, which I don't think most people do. Any thoughts? Thanks again.
  • Carrie, you are right, you can only show a certain number of tabs across, depending on the length of the tabs (if the tab name is longer, you get less tabs showing!). What I suggest to my clients is to show what matters most. Since the "Wall" tab and the "Info" tab cannot be moved, you only get a few options. I do not think it is necessary to show your Welcome tab, because the only people that really need to see that one are the people that are first coming to your page, and you can set it up so they automatically land on that tab the first time they visit. And the photos tab, discussion tab, and notes tabs are not usually as important because most people know they exist and will look for them. Instead, if you create custom tabs, show those for sure. I hope this helps!
  • Thanks for this great & informative video. I've read a few things about optimizing your FB fan page, but this video explains things in a really simple and easy manner. Thanks for the great info!
  • Hey! So glad you found the video valuable. I think there is so much we can do with Fan Pages and those that get going now will stand out above the rest! Nothing wrong with getting noticed, right?! Thanks for stopping by- Amy

  • Amy - thanks (as always) for your wonderful insight and focus on the practice stuff that gets results. We've seen a lot of increases on Inside Elder Care - engagement, book sales and email list growth since the page went. Thanks! We've also used these tactics on some other pages with some really cool results.
