I think we can all agree that the first six months of 2020 have been crazy, uncertain, and have pushed us in ways that we never expected — especially as entrepreneurs.
Nonetheless, six months have passed and we’re now halfway through the year. So from one friend to another, how are your 2020 goals coming along?
Maybe you’re kicking butt — go you! Or, perhaps you’re falling behind a bit. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, just know that you’re not alone, so give yourself some grace.
COVID or no COVID, I always find doing a mid-year goal audit helpful. It’s important to recalibrate where you are with our goals to ensure they’re on track and realistic.
In this episode, I have a 4-step process to help you reach your goals in the final six months of 2020 — no matter where you are right now.
Here’s what it looks like:
- Identify your goals — get hyper clear on what they are and refresh your memory.
- Examine your progress and list out the actions you’ve been taking towards your goals.
- Identify what’s working and what isn’t.
- Create a plan for moving forward and knocking your goals out of the ballpark.
You’re going to walk away with a renewed sense of motivation and a step-by-step process to help ensure you accomplish those big, bold goals.

- [04:43]Step 1: Get clear on your 2020 goals. Grab a notebook and write down each of the goals that you set for yourself at the beginning of the year so that you can reevaluate them. I know it sounds almost too simple, but it’s important in order to audit them.
- [05:57] Step 2: Examine your progress and list out the actions that you've been taking towards your goals. Now, sweet friend, this isn't about judging. It's about writing down where you are and what you have accomplished. Be honest with yourself so you can grow, learn, move forward, and knock your goals out of the ballpark.
- [10:46] Step 3: Identify what is and isn't working. This assignment will probably reveal a few improvements that you need to make in order to hit your goals. (And that’s a good thing!) This is a wonderful opportunity to shift your goals and make them more fluid, tangible, and achievable.
- [17:00] Step 4: Create a plan! Once you are clear about what steps you may need to move forward, come up with a plan to do so to accomplish your goals. Focus on the goals that may be missing the mark and recalibrate by troubleshooting, improving your approach, and actually setting milestones.
