Everything you need to know about course offered bonuses
When I was a kid, every once in a while my mom would let my sister and I buy a sugary cereal. You know the ones from back in the day — Cap’n Crunch, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruit Loops… the list goes on!
It was a really special treat to get these cereals, not only because they were oh-so-good (and totally unhealthy) but also because there was a really cool prize at the bottom of the box.
The whole way home from the grocery store, all my sister and I could talk about was what the prize was going to be, and all the important details about how it would go down the next morning when we opened the box.
This little “bonus” in the bottom of the cereal box got us so excited to eat breakfast the next morning that we could hardly wait for it!
And when I think back on this memory as an adult, I’ve realized that this is actually how I look at course offered bonuses — and how they not only create urgency around buying your product, but provide a ton of value to your audience.
In fact, with every course bonus that I create, it’s my goal for my students to anticipate just how good it’s going to be, and cannot wait to get their hands on it.
And that, my friend, is what this episode is all about. In it, you’ll learn:
- How many bonuses you should include with your offer
- What content you can should use for your bonus package
- What to include in your bonus that will make it extremely enticing
- The different types of bonuses and how you can include them in your offer
- How to put a value on your bonus
Plus, to help inspire you when you start creating your own bonuses, I’ve created a free resource that includes 5 amazing bonuses from my students.
This episode is jam-packed with valuable information, so be sure to have a pen and paper handy to take notes.
Here’s a glance at this episode…
- [05:40] Bonuses can enhance the value of your offer, allow you to dive into areas that don't fit into your course, and help people get off the fence about your program.
- [08:15] If you're just starting out, you should include 1 to 3 bonuses. We have 8 bonuses in DCA, 6 in List Builder's Society, and 3 in Systems That Scale.
- [10:53] Essential content belongs in your core program. Something that optimizes strategy or is more advanced can be a bonus.
- [11:42] There will be things in your course outline that aren't necessary, but are really good. These make great bonuses.
- [13:13] A Core Bonus is something that everybody gets. A timely bonus creates urgency and isn't listed on your sales page.
- [18:15] A Fast Action Bonus is something you give away during your live webinar. This gets people to take action in the moment.
- [19:59] A Pay In Full bonus is like a reward for people that pay up front.
- [22:59] An Extra Support Bonus typically includes more of ‘you.’ This is for higher ticket items and gives students a sense of community.
- [24:30] A Next Steps bonus acts as encouragement for your students to get through your course faster.
- [25:41] A Kick Starter Bonus can help beginners fast track their success.
- [28:04] When assigning a value to your bonus, ask yourself what you would sell it for as a stand alone product. Don't value it higher than the course itself.
- [30:35] Action items: Brainstorm what kind of content you can create as a bonus. What didn't fit into your course? How can you include it in your offer? What type of bonus offer do you want to create?
